As some Western media outlets hyped a recent Thai gallery show that reportedly removed works concerning China's Xinjiang, Xizang, and Hong Kong, the Chinese Embassy in Thailand said Tuesday that by openly promoting fallacies, the exhibition distorted China's policies on these regions and undermined China's core interests and political dignity. The prompt measures taken by relevant countries demonstrate that advocating these fallacies has no ground internationally, the embassy told the Global Times on Tuesday.

Reuters reported Monday that one of Thailand's top art galleries removed materials it claimed were about China's "treatment of ethnic minorities and Hong Kong" from an exhibit on what the report called "authoritarian governments," citing a curator.

According to Reuters, some works previously advertised and photographed had been removed from the exhibition, which opened on July 24, at the Bangkok Arts and Cultural Centre. The removed items included a multimedia installation reportedly by a Tibetan artist, while other pieces had been altered, with the words 'Hong Kong', "Tibet," (Xizang) and "Uyghur" redacted, along with the artists' names.

The Chinese Embassy in Thailand responded on Tuesday, stating that issues concerning Xizang, Xinjiang, and Hong Kong are purely China's internal affairs.

"The exhibition disregards facts, openly promotes the fallacies of 'Xizang independence,' 'East Turkestan,' and 'Hong Kong independence,' distorts China's policies on these regions, and undermines China's core interests and political dignity," the embassy told Global Times.

It stressed that China opposes using the pretext of cultural and artistic exchange to engage in political manipulation and interfere in China's internal affairs. "The prompt measures taken by relevant countries demonstrate that advocating the fallacies of 'Xizang independence,' 'East Turkestan,' and 'Hong Kong independence' has no ground internationally, nor can it gain support," the statement read.
