Sichuan Province in southwest China is scorching this summer, topping 40 degrees Celsius in some areas. Cool mountain destinations have become popular with tourists. One village stands out not only for its mild climate, but its unique Baima Tibetan culture. Our colleague from China Media Group, Zhao Xiong, reports.

ZHAO XIONG, Pingwu, Sichuan Province "I'm now in an ancient village of Pingwu county in Sichuan Province. Behind me is a beautiful riverside grassland where visitors can ride horses and enjoy the scenery. Located at over 2300 meters above sea level, this village is surrounded by green mountains and clear waters. The average summer temperature is about 18 Degrees Celsius, with a cool and comfortable climate and very pleasant humidity. Many foreign tourists told me they think it's an ideal place for them to escape the summer heat."

KILANGI STEVEN MNWAGI, Tourist from Tanzania "It's my first time and it's been amazing. The temperature here is so much cooler compared to what I came from in Chengdu. It's very cool, it's very windy, you forget that it's summer. It's very, very good and I was able to do a bit of horse riding which I enjoyed very much. The horses are very calm. It was an activity that I really really enjoyed. I got this information from the internet and I was very very interested to come and follow up and see if it's really that good, and it really did meet this expectation."

Beyond its refreshing natural surroundings, the area's unique ethnic culture is another major attraction for visitors. In the ancient villages of Baima Tibetan Township, locals dressed in traditional attire welcome guests with vibrant folk songs, traditional dances, and colorful ribbons that symbolize blessings and good fortune.

MIAMBO KIONE DEJANE, Tourist from Mozambique "It's very interesting how they do it this handmade ( felt hat) and it's very special, especially because they also told me that it brings good luck so I feel incredibly honored to be here to experience the whole thing. It's amazing."

ZHAO XIONG, Pingwu, Sichuan Province "In this as village visitors can experience a lot of ethnic activities such as making the felt hats themselves, but besides that they can also pound the potato sticky rice cake. It must be very tiring. Let's ask the visitor a question, hello, how does it feel?"

KAURA BERNARD SHEKWODUZA, Visitor from Nigeria "It feels a little bit tiring, but it's a good experience to pound the mountain potatoes because it's the first time coming here and it's good to taste how it feels. I like the culture."

As night falls, Baima Tibetan Township comes alive. Bonfires are lit, folk music fills the air, and visitors join local residents in dancing and celebrating beneath the cool mountain skies. Blending refreshing summer escapes with rich cultural experiences, Pingwu's Baima Tibetan Township is making full use of its unique ecological resources and vibrant ethnic traditions, giving visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in nature while experiencing the warmth, hospitality, and charm of cultural exchange.
