In an era when digital technologies and media innovations are profoundly reshaping the global communication landscape, building a more inclusive, efficient, and coordinated international communication system, deepening cross-cultural dialogue, and strengthening regional cooperation have become urgent imperatives for countries worldwide to address global changes and advance shared development.

As a core link connecting Eurasia, the Trans-Himalayan region, with its unique geographical location and rich cultural diversity, bears the important mission of promoting cross-regional cultural exchanges, enhancing connections between people, and promoting common prosperity among neighboring countries. Currently, the Trans-Himalayan region is undergoing a development phase intertwined with social transformation and the digital revolution. This phase is marked by the rapid development of digital media, enhanced regional social vitality, and the increasing voices of young people, creating both opportunities and challenges. The in-depth discussions on regional communication mechanisms and collaborative pathways for cross-border governance in the digital age, continues to enhance international communication capabilities, promote mutual trust, win-win cooperation, and development develop significant theoretical and practical importance among neighboring countries for fostering stable development in the Trans-Himalayan region, and building a more equitable and reasonable global communication and governance order.

To this end, following the successful hosting of the 3rd Trans-Himalayan Communication and Social Development Conference, the School of Public Administration of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Kangba TV (China), and the Faculty of Social Sciences of University of Dhaka (Bangladesh) plan to jointly host the 4th Trans-Himalayan Communication and Social Development Conference 2026. With the core theme of Trans-Himalayan International Communication and Regional Development Governance in the Digital Intelligence Era, this conference is now calling for papers from international experts and scholars in the fields such as journalism and communication, public administration, political science, sociology, international relations, and history. We welcome your contributions.

Datee and Venue

The conference will be held from Nov. 7 to Nov. 10 in University of Dhaka, Dhaka, Bangladesh. 

Theme and Suhthemes

Themed on International Communication and Regional Development Governance in the Trans-Himalayan Region in the Era of Digital Intelligence, the conference includes the following topics: 

Research on building a community with a shared future in the Himalayan region;

Platform algorithms, mis-information, and risk governance of information;

Collaborative innovation of public policies for development and governance in the Himalayan region;

Research on non-traditional security issues and governance systems in the Himalayan region;

Innovation of regional development governance and international cooperation models under global development initiatives;

International communication capacity building and evaluation in the digital intelligence era;

Public participation and expression of young people on digital intelligence platforms;

Social media governance and public responsibility of platforms;

Digital public diplomacy and neighboring communication innovation in the Himalayan region;

Cross-cultural communication and ethnic exchange and integration;

Media industry development and media cooperation in the Himalayan region;

Research on the history of journalism and communication in the Himalayan region;

Other related topics.

Participants are invited to submit relevant papers or extended abstracts (in Chinese or English) based on the forum theme via email, for unified review by the organizing committee. 

The organizing committee will organize experts to review the papers or abstracts after the deadline, and official invitation letters for the forum will be issued separately.

All submissions must be original and unpublished in other academic conferences, proceedings or journals.

The total length of the Chinese version of the paper should not exceed 12,000 words (including the abstract), and the English version should not exceed 8,000 words. The length of the summary should be kept between 2,000 and 3,000 words.

The manuscript should indicate the paper title, author’s name, work unit, position and professional title, mobile phone number, contact address, postal code, email address and other information.

There is no registration fee for this academic conference. Participants are responsible for their own round-trip transportation, accommodation and meals.

A brief author biography should be attached at the end of the manuscript, and all submissions should be formatted in APA style.

Papers shall be submitted by email. Please keep a copy of your paper or abstract; submissions will not be returned. The email subject should be labeled as “Subtheme + Paper Title + Author Name”.
