Lhasa's GDP grows 7.1 percent in first three quarters of 2025

Lhasa, the capital of the Xizang autonomous region, recorded a GDP of 75.39 billion yuan ($10.58 billion) in the first three quarters of this year, representing a 7.1 percent year-on-year increase, local authorities said at a news conference on Thursday.

According to the city's statistics bureau, the added value of Lhasa's primary industry reached 1.48 billion yuan, up 9 percent year-on-year. The secondary and tertiary industries expanded by 8.8 percent and 6 percent, respectively, with added values of 34 billion yuan and 39.81 billion yuan.

The agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery sectors maintained steady growth, achieving a total output value of 2.72 billion yuan in the first nine months, a year-on-year increase of 8 percent.

In 2024, the per capita disposable income of urban residents reached 58,171 yuan, 175 times that of 1965, with an average annual growth rate of 9.2 percent. The per capita disposable income of rural residents reached 27,151 yuan, up more than 323 times over the same period, with an average annual growth of 10.3 percent.
