With the help of State Grid Henan Electric Power Company, a converter station undergoes upgrading in Linzhou County of Lhasa City in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region.
The upgrading project, which started in May this year, is scheduled to be completed in September next year. Once completed, the direct current transmission capacity of the converter station will be increased from 600 megawatts to 1,200 megawatts.
The completion of the project will effectively meet the rapidly growing electricity demand in Xizang, said Huang Wenyi, manager of the project.
The company, located in central China’s Henan Province, said it has been helping Xizang with power grid upgrading in recent years, and several power interconnection projects it undertook have satisfied the power needs for economic and social development in the region.
