LHASA, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- Around 3,000 runners took part in the 2021 Lhasa Half Marathon on Saturday in Lhasa, the capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.

The event, which featured half marathon, 10.548km run and 5km run, was held at an altitude of over 3,600 meters above the sea level.

Sonam Tsering won the man's title with a time of one hour, 14 minutes and 28 seconds, while Tsering Tsomo won the women's race in 1:24.01.

"It is excellent of all participants including professional athletes and marathon amateurs to complete the race in the high-altitude plateau area with the lack of oxygen," Sonam Tsering said.
