XIAHE, June 8 (Kangba TV) -- After four years of semi-closed renovation, Labrang Monastery, “the academy of Tibetology of the world”, finished renovating the cultural relics of 10 Buddhist halls. The renovated halls will be open to public gradually.

Labrang Monastery is located in Xiahe County, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu Province, and was listed as a national cultural relic protection unit in 1982.

According to Sonamgya, director of the leading group of the protection project of Labrang Monastery, the project aims to carry out the protective renovation of the main Buddhist halls, cultural relics, frescoes, oil paintings, etc.

The project marked the first grand renovation of the monastery over the past 300 years.
