Snow leopards are under China's highest national-level protection and are listed as vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. World Snow Leopard Day falls on October 23 annually. Nainang Valley, which is only 38 kilometers away from the urban area of Lhasa in a straight line, is a rare stable habitat for snow leopards located in the suburb of a city in Xizang. The Nainang ecological and cultural protection center in Doilungdeqen District was established in May 2023. To date, 40 snow leopards have been identified and named within the 200-square-kilometer monitoring area of Nainang Valley.
