These workershave been occupied in this project for 11 years. Step by step, the contents and number of Qinghai’s digital maps of 1:10,000scale have achieved dramatic progress, which is of great significance for the geographical space’s framework construction,land resourceallocation, tourism development, public safety management and national defense construction in Qinghai.

“Annually, we spend seven to eight months in the fields, walking over ten kilometers and climbing4,600m tall mountains every day. I climbed a 5,600m tall mountain in this April to dophoto-control point measurement. At that time, we began climbing at 8:00 a.m., arrived at the mountain top at 3:00 p.m. and returned to thecampat about 1:00 in the morning.After returning to the camp, data of the dayshould be sorted. We slept five hours a day and life repeated,” said Gong Ke, an engineer from the remote sensing center in the institute.

Thanks to the diligence and efforts of Qinghai’s surveying and mapping workers, their achievements laid a sound foundation for the construction and development of Tibetan-inhabited areas and Qinghai Province’s geoinformation industry.
