“It is near the downtown. My husband went out early in the morning.” Said Samkyipo, the 56-year-old Tibetan woman. She stands in the yard of her new house, with a smile on her face.
During the Spring Festival, Samkyipo who lives in Tsegai Village, Heishui County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, moved from the shabby house on the mountain into the new house in the downtown, with complete water and power facilities.
Samkyipo and her husband live with their younger son. In 2016, the family was listed as one of the relocation households. With 23,300 yuan per capita of subsidy, the family built the 70 sq.m. house near the G347 national road.
Samkyipo said it took 4 hours to and fro to sell the vegetables down the hill. Life was inconvenient in the past. Besides, the former house was made of stones, with small windows and poor daylighting. After years, the house became a dilapidated building.
Local government offered 50 chickens and 3 pigs for the old couple. Samkyipo’s younger son was also included in the job recommendation project. The family lived a better life after they moved here.
“I am satisfied. There is no need worrying about the house and food. I also got the new rural endowment insurance. I don’t even pay the registration fee at the outpatient department. I have never dreamed of this life before.” Said Samkyipo.
During the interview, Samkyipo’s elder son Sulha Rinchen and his 10-year-old daughter Su Jinzhu came to visit. Sulha Rinchen’s new house is near Samkyipo’s. Su Jinzhu said, “It is convenient to go to school. It takes only a few minutes.”
Sulha Rinchen is looking forward to the life in 2017. “Heishui County’s tourism develops very well. I plan to decorate the rooms and learn from the rural tourism demo households. I hope to maintain my life via developing tourism.”
