Tseten Drolma thought her vocal teacher gave her much support. He is the kindest teacher of all.
He told Tseten Drolma when he stood on the stage, he should forget who he is. He just needed to show himself and tell the audience he is from Tibet, what he is like and he comes to sing for you.
Difficulties and setbacks didn’t frighten Tseten Drolma, which in fact was attributed to her vocal teacher Wang Pinsu, professor of Shanghai Conservatory of Music. Six years’ learning of music from Wang greatly influenced her singing career.
Mr Wang asked Tseten Drolma to listen to the record at school. It was sung by a foreign coloratura. She sang well. When coming to the high pitch, she made it with easiness.
Mr Wang said that Tseten Drolma also had such singing in the Tibetan folk songs. The song she sang before belonged to it. It was similar to the coloratura singing. And he said she couldn’t reach the high pitch without relaxing herself. He said that he let her listen to the foreign coloratura to learn her skills, including voice, breath and accuracy of pitch.

At that time, it was popular to sing the pop music. For example the song by Deng Lijun, Stories of The Small Town.
Tseten Drolma asked her teacher whether she could sing songs like those. He said they were good works, but they were not suitable for her.
Tseten Drolma might thought that she was able to sing well. However, sometimes it wasn’t right.
Deng’s singing was unique because of her years of accumulation in music. He suggested her singing Tibetan songs. If not, she wasn’t Tseten Drolma.
With the help of Mr Wang, Tseten Drolma still learning at school made a hit with one song alone.
In 1963, the song "A folk song to the party" received much popularity across China.
When Tseten Drolma was having a meal at school, she happened to listen to the song. She was excited and she thought it was suitable for her.
First, she liked the lyrics which were something about memories. Tseten Drolma told herself that she could say all what she wanted to say to the Party, which was amazing.
So she told her idea to the teacher. He agreed with her and asked her to practice. There is mixture of real voice and falsetto in the song. And she could sing it that way.

In 1964, Tseten Drolma joined in the concert of Spring of Shanghai. She astonished the audience with the song. And it was spread out across China rapidly by radio.

During the following over ten years, her voice was delivered to many places, including cities, countryside, pasture and frontier sentries. And she also visited plenty of sites, from the Tibetan-inhabited region in Sichuan, Qinghai, Gansu and Yunnan to oversea regions.
Tseten Drolma said she just liked her career. Even though she was old now, Yet she still wants to sing more songs. She really wants to go further and longer in her career.
And She was really happy to see so many Tibetan singers. Most of them are from the Tibetan-inhabited region. So, she thinks it’s necessary for the nation.
