One night lying on the bed, Enpo learnt from the radio that Chengdu Yanshikou Blind Massage School was recruiting students across the country. The curriculum included massage and braille.
It’s children’s nature to go to new places and experience new things. When Enpo is too busy, he would let his wife go out with students.
In the first three months in school, Enpo was unable to keep up with his classmates. The teacher asked students questions every day. He was often asked, but he knew nothing. So the teacher told other students, “You should help this Tibetan classmate.” The teacher wanted to help him, but those words hurt Enpo a lot.
Because Enpo had a poor basis, he had to restudy basic knowledge. During that period, he used all his time to study, except 8 hours of sleep. He studied very hard 14 hours a day. Eight months later, he caught up with his classmates.
In school, Enpo found that blind students had a low learning efficiency because of language barriers. At that time, he conceived a bold idea – to create a Tibetan braille.

In 1991, Enpo graduated after 2 years in school. After resigning from Chengdu Massage Hospital, he returned to Barkam and opened a massage parlor. He further studied massage by himself while he spent time creating a Tibetan braille.
Enpo dropped out of school when he was a primary school student of fourth grade. But he managed to learn Tibetan and computer and create a Tibetan braille system which is a solution to promiscuousness and has no separating characters, doubling the volume of braille characters. Now, a sheet of A4 paper can contain 300 braille characters.
In 2015, Enpo spent all his savings on this 80-m2 old house. With five students recruited, he opened a training class.
This year, Enpo plans an expansion of enrollment, hoping to provide more accessible and convenient education to more Tibetan blinds. Now, he’s busy finding a new teaching place.

Currently, here is the classroom and dormitory for five students and also the bedroom for a family of four. In this tiny space, these nine people live together and share a close relationship.
Enpo has survived the baptism of 20 years. Now, his biggest wish is that his Tibetan braille will be endorsed by the government and widely popularized.
Children, never feel discouraged by difficulties in life, but try to be powered by them. Children, don’t complain about stumbling blocks at your feet, but be inspired by them. Children, light up the lamp in your heart; find the light for yourself and for others.
