Dyiyak, known as a small Jiangnan of Ngari, is located 260 kilometers northwest of Zanda County. Except the magnificent and beautiful natural landscapes of Dyiyak, Xuan dance is one of the best known things there.

Xuan is an ancient Tibetan dance that could be traced back to a thousand years ago. Combining narration, singing and fixed dancing routines, most of the content of the xuan dance related to the formation of the world, the origin of species, as well as the praise of mountains and lakes, which reflect how Tibetan people respect and worship the nature.

"As an inheritor of Dyiyak xuan dance, I have been engaged in it for more than 10 years. In order to help my students savouring unique charm of the traditional Tibetan dance culture, I tell the origin of the dance to my students and show them how to perform every dance movement. Currently, we have 13 girls practicing the dance and most of them have already mastered eighty or ninety percent of the basic moves and rhythms of the xuan dance," said Rinzin Wangmo.

Rinzin Wangmo and her students are keen to protect and develop the xuan dance. "At present, the biggest difficulty is that performers who have completed headwear and attire for dancing the xuan in the village are very rare. As we know that dancers couldn’t perform xuan if they don’t have the headdress and clothing. Therefore, I hope government could offer costume for us and help us to cultivate more talented dancers and inherit the ancient dance well," said Rinzin Wangmo when talking about her hope for the future.
