In Zhubao Village, Dongxing Town, Maoxian County, Aba Prefecture, neighbors rarely see Zheng Qingming. His cellphone is often “out of service”. If someone has to see him right away, this someone has to walk into the mountains because everyone knows that Zheng is always busy with his bees and the most beautiful flowers. Let’s get to know Zheng Qingming, the beekeeper.
In Zheng Qingming’s beekeeping base, there are rows of beehives nicely arranged and spaced. Zheng Qingming and his son are busy between beehives with protective equipment and bees flying around.

Zheng Qingming has something of a reputation as a local beekeeper. He has been keeping bees for over 20 years. Every time, the bees come back from the flowers in the mountains with pollen all over their legs, Zheng feels so sweet as if the honey is already in his mouth.
Zheng told our reporter that beekeeping is his best hobby and here is the best environment for it.
Most people in Zhubao Village live by going out to work or traditional cultivation. Today, making money through beekeeping has become a popular idea among local villagers. Based on the actual situation of the village, Zheng established Qinmi Professional Beekeeping Cooperative to involve and support more people in this career.
“Since beekeeping brings good economic benefits, I wanted to share this idea with surrounding villagers. I expanded the scale and established a professional beekeeping cooperative. We have 6 member households so far,” said Zheng.
Wang Yinquan, a cooperative member said, “We did not keep so many bees before for fear of poor sales. Now the sugar sells great since we joined the cooperative.” The cooperative is a sales guarantee for honey. The villagers’ enthusiasm for beekeeping and their income are both higher than before.
About future development of the cooperative, Zheng said that they would involve more villagers in the beekeeping cooperative, promote the honey deep in the mountains out to the whole country so that more people would enjoy the green and pure honey.
