Garsha government sent Dharmaraja Khare Basinam Dorji and the Living Buddha Sonam Gyaltsen to Tsona to observe and check the kid. After 7 days’ observation, they put Buddha beads, mantle and other living appliances of the fifth Dalai in front of Tsangyang Gyatso and asked him to identify.

They were totally convinced because the kid could correctly identify everything. In their minds, they believed the kid was the reincarnation of the fifth Dalai. They reported the info to Garsha government at once. Garsha government confirmed his identity but they kept that to themselves. They sent officials, teachers, servants from Lhasa to Tsona. They wanted to cultivate the kid in Tsona.

For 12 years, from 1685 to 1697. While it was 14 years in historical records. He then resided in Tsona. Tsangyang Gyatso studied quite hard during that time.

Two examples would be cited. The first one was he was able to write Tibetan on paper when he was 8.

What did writing Tibetan on paper mean?

Tibetan people used to practicse Tibetan writing on woodblocks. Lines were drawn on the woodblocks and Siniu was used as the pen. This very kind of solid bamboo grows in Monyul. He repeated practicsing the 30 consonants and 4 vowels.

He kept writing them correctly. After he was able to write them well, he started to practice writing cursive handwriting with long foot. He then learned Tibetan overlay characters.

The multilevel Tibetan characters are learned step by step. Only after masteringlearned these fonts didcan he havehad the ability to write Tibetan on paper.

How about writing on the paper?

Everyone’s handwriting has its traits. Some are neat and steady. After learninged these fonts, he could write down what he wanted to express. It worked in this way in the past. People could not write until 3 years’ learning. 3 years’ learning and practice are necessary for writing.

Since Tsangyang Gyatso was a genius, he was able to write Tibetan on paper at the age of 8. When he was 11, he was able to write Eulogy for Hayagriva. 11 years old was calculated in terms of the Tibetan calendar.

According to modern calendar, he was less than 10 years old then. One more year would be added to the age according to the Tibetan calendar.

11 years old on the Tibetan calendar is less than 10 years old on modern calendar. He should be in the 3rd or 4th grade in modern primary school. But he was able to write Eulogy for Hayagriva. There are 4 eulogies in the book.

Hayagriva has the strengths of intelligence, grief and power.

The Rakshasa in ralgar danced in the fire of eschaton valorously.

This eulogy was written by him. Vajrayana had many explainations on this eulogy. From the contextual structure and wording, this eulogy is quite excellent.

Some of readers and aundience, especially some scholars, thought Tsangyang Gyatso only had these works. This is not the case.

Tsangyang Gyatso had plenty of works. The Eulogy for Hayagriva was written by him when he was 11. There were 4 eulogies in it. The Book of Tea and The Urgyenlin were also works of Tsangyang Gyatso.

His works were saved in the study room of the administrative office of the Potala Palace, which are edited and to be published.

In the short life, he had numerious works. He was a guru, an excellent one.
