There are less than two weeks to go before the opening of the World University Games in Chengdu. The sporting events of the Universiade will take place in 27 competition venues, a combination of brand new structures and existing ones.

Xinhua takes a look at some of the venues, as well as the Universiade Village that the athletes will call home during their stay in Chengdu.

Qingshuihe Campus Gymnasium, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China

Qingshuihe Campus Gymnasium, at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, covers a floor area of 23,852 square meters. The size of field of play (FoP) is 57mx42m and the net height is 10 meters.

The gymnasium will serve as a competition and warm-up venue for basketball events during the Games. The events will be held from July 28 to August 6, with a total of two gold medals to be awarded.

Guanghua Campus Gymnasium, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics

Guanghua Campus Gymnasium at the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics features a floor area of 11,453 square meters. One field of play (FoP) and one warm-up area are provided. The size of FoP is 37mx26.6m and the net height is 14 meters. The size of warm-up court is 43.5mx31m and the net height is 6.85 meters.

The gymnasium will serve as a competition and warm-up venue for volleyball events during the Games. The volleyball events will be held from July 29 to August 7, with a total of two gold medals to be awarded.

Xipu Campus Gymnasium, Southwest Jiaotong University

Xipu Campus Gymnasium at Southwest Jiaotong University features a floor area of 39,750 square meters. One field of play (FoP) and one warm-up area are provided. The size of FoP is 36mx42m and the net height is 21 meters. The net height of the warm-up area is 18 meters.

The gymnasium will also serve as a competition and warm-up venue for volleyball events during the Games.

Chengdu Sport University Gymnasium

Chengdu Sport University Gymnasium covers a floor area of 12,261 square meters. The size of field of play (FoP) is 49mx30m and the net height is 26.9 meters.

The gymnasium will serve as a competition venue for rhythmic gymnastics events during the Chengdu FISU World University Games. The rhythmic gymnastics events will be held from July 29 to 31, with a total of eight gold medals to be awarded.
