After the “Winter Tour in Tibet” event began last November, the number of visitors to Potala Palace has increased by 87 percent year-on-year. With the event ending on March 15th, Potala Palace will begin its off-season pricing at 100 yuan (14.9 US dollars)/person.

The Potala Palace is limited to 5,000 visitors per day. When the number of visitors exceeds 5,000, the management office of the palace will enact an emergency plan and open another visitors' route to increase visitor capacity by 2,000 people.
