As the Tibetan New Year is coming, the tourist amount to Potala Palace has been increasing sharply.

At present, the opening time of Potala Palace is from nine o'clock a.m. to four o'clock p.m. everyday. The ticket office is at the main entrance of Potala Palace, and no tickets are on sale at the eastern door and western door of Potala Palace. Tourists going to Potala  Palace can go into it without lining up for tickets. To create the festival atmosphere, staff from Potala Palace Administrative Office changed the old censer clothes as well as hung new prayer flags. During the Tibetan New Year period, Potala Palace will open extra visiting points and its opening time will be extended as well.

Here are some tips for tourists.

Firstly, the price of the Potala Palace's ticket is RMB 100 yuan at present, which is half the price during the peak season.

Secondly, there is no shuttle buses from Lhasa to Lake Namotso or Yamdrok Lake. Car pooling or chartered vehicle is recommended for tourists going to these two places.

Thirdly, activities of "Winter tour to Mt. Everest" has been started since Nov. 1st, 2016, and it will last till March 31th, 2017. During this period, the entrance ticket of Mt. Everest Base Camp is reduced from RMB 180 yuan to RMB 90 yuan. Tourists with good luck can also get the custom-made tourist souvenir of Mt. Everest Base Camp.

At last, there are shuttle buses from Lhasa to Shannan. It is very convenient to go to all the scenic spots through car pooling or chartered vehicle in Shannan.
