Situated in Cona County and dubbed as Tibet’s most beautiful frontier county, Lebugou is one of Monpa Tibetan’s main habitats as well as the 6th Dalai Lama Tsangyang Gyatso’s hometown.
Owning to its unique subtropical humid climate, Lebugou has distinctive natural landscape.
The three-day Lebugou azalea travel promotion meeting is held in Shannan City. Over 20 travel agencies attended the meeting to appreciate rhododendron lapponicum in Lebugou Scenic Area in advance and prepare their tours there.
Lebu means a wonderful place in Tibetan. With conspicuous vertical climate, local rhododendron lapponicum bloom from March to July, which forms one of the featured landscapes on Tibetan Plateau.

Tips for travelling to Lebugou:
1. Lebugou is in a frontier town and a permit is needed to go there.
2. An umbrella is needed in case of rain. Shrouded with cloud and mist, Lebugou is prone to rain anytime.
3. Local Tibetan’s religious belief and living habits should be respected when travelling there.
4. Shannan area is over 3,000m above sea level. Tourists should take some medicines to prevent high altitude reaction apart from the regular ones.
