Zoige Flower Lake is the main habitat for many wild animals, including some rare and precious ones like the tadorna ferruginea, graylag, coot, swan, etc.
The coots and black-necked cranes are playing and feeding on the lake. Walking on the plank roads, tourists can occasionally see how black-necked cranes hunt grassland rats and feed on them.
According to the head of the scenic spot, it is autumn now and black-necked cranes will leave for the south to overwinter in November. They will not fly back until the Spring Festival.
The black-necked crane’s head is hoary, foreneck and flight feather black and tail feather brown-black. They mainly inhabit in highland wetlands, lakes and beach at an altitude of 2,500m to 5,000m.
The black-necked crane is the only crane growing and reproducing on the plateau.
