
Sangkho Grassland in GannanTibetan Autonomous Prefecture is one of Gansu’s famous pastures as well as a natural pasture for local Tibetan people. Surrounded by mountains, the lush, tranquil and beautiful Sangkho Grassland is open and flat, flowing across by Daxia River from south to north.


When summer falls, Sangkho Grassland is a perfect summer resort to avoid heat and experience Tibetan nomadic life. At an altitude of 3,000m, the alpine meadow grassland has emerald grass and blooming flowers. Its annual average temperature is four degrees centigrade, while the temperature in summer stays between 8 and 14 degrees centigrade.


Besides Sangkho Grassland, Gannan has many other beautiful natural grasslands in Maqu, Xiahe and Luqu counties. Among them, Maqu Grassland in Maqu County, dubbed as the First Pasture in Asia, is the most well-known one, where the Yellow River forms the first curve.
