JIUZHAIGOU, May 11 (Kangba TV)--The worshipping and praying activity of the annual Mazhi Cultural Festival of Zharu Monastery kicked off in Jiuzhaigou Scenic Spot on May 10, the 15th day of the 4th month on Chinese lunar calendar.

It is known that Zharu Monastery holds Mazhi Cultural Festival every year. The monks of the monastery usually start preparing the festival one month in advance.

From the 9th day of the 4th month on Chinese lunar calendar, eminent monks of the monastery start chanting sutras, which lasts to the 16th day of the 4th month.

On the 15th day of the 4th month, the monastery holds worshipping and praying activities.

On the day, people from around dress up and hold wind-horse flags, candles and Thangka paintings, heading to Zharu Monastery to pray for happiness and auspiciousness with piety.

Lots of tourists also come here to experience the unique religious culture.

In recent years, Jiuzhaigou Scenic Spot has enhanced the opening-up of tourism, and protected and explored local folk cultures in the meantime.
