Changtang Nature Reserve, founded in 1993, was upgraded to be the national nature reserve in 2000. It is one of the earliest national nature reserves and also the second largest nature reserve in China. Changtang Nature Reserve, the highest nature reserve in the world, covers an area of 298,000 square kilometers and accounts for nearly 25 percent of the land.

Changtang Nature Reserve is home to a wild range of wildlife, including Tibetan antelopes, Tibetan donkeys and wild yaks.

Up until now, over 300 million yuan has been poured into the protection, scientific research and publicity of Changtang Nature Reserve.
