Ge’nyen Scenic Area is located in Reke Town of Litang County, south Kham. It is a large scenic zone covering an area of nearly 500 square kilometers. Ge’nyen Mountain with an altitude of 6,204 meters is the center of this area. It is surrounded by mountains, primeval forests, grasslands, lakes, hot springs, temples and rich Tibetan features.

The scenic area boasts complete functions and charming sceneries with holy, fantastic, magnificent and beautiful features. The main peak of Ge’nyen Mountain is capped by snow all year round. It is always shining under the sun light. In sunny days, you can see the magnificent towering peak from two or three hundred kilometers away.

The mountainside primeval forests of mainly spruce, fir and Quercus spinosa decorated the mountain together with waterfalls pouring down among them. Down the mountains, there are vast grasslands and forests, crystal clear lakes, beautiful mountain forms and unique landforms around. Natural ecosystems are completely preserved. Flocks of wild sheep live on the mountains and musk deer, bear and other rare pheasants like Tibetan eared pheasant are often seen in the forests, by the lake or roadsides. People can watch at any time. There are many hot springs in Ge’nyen Scenic Area, therefore, it is known as the “Town of Geothermal Spring”.
