Recently, many citizens havediscovered that the night streets of Lhasa are lit up.While walking on Beijing Road in the daytime, youcan sense that the walls of the roadside buildings looka lot whiterand brighter. If you look more carefully, you can evenfindthat the windows of these buildings have been repainted, which are much more bright colored. When night falls, you can have a beautiful night view if you walk on theJiangsu Road, Beijing Road or some other roads on Sun Island.
A few months ago, these roads were mainly lit by street lights on the roadside.Today, after the workers’ continuous efforts, these old street lightslook relatively dim comparing to the new lights installed on the wall. All these beautiful street views are resulted from the city lighting and vista transformation project. It is known that this project started in April this year, and the implement sites including the main streets of the city center and along the river. Its aim are promoting city’s taste, beautifying city landscape and improving city environment etc. Through nearly 4 months of efforts, the project has been basically completed.
Some people praise this while others are worried. “At present, there are bright lights everywhere in Lhasa, will it produce light pollution? Especially new lighting facilities on the Beijing Road and Tibetan Hospital Road, will these lights have an impact on the Jokhang Temple?” In fact, people do not need to worry.The city lighting and vista transformation projectis implemented under the principle of “characteristic, ecology, safety, energy efficiency, environmental protection”.Moreover, relevant departments have already done special researches before the implementation. Given full consideration to the appearance characteristics and decorative materials of the roadside buildings, the main colorsof the lighting materials used areyellow, blue and white. The lighting are mainly weak lightconstructions so that it can be beautiful and produce no light pollution.
During the daytime, it is tidy and bright.At night,the lights are shining and unique.This is the current situation of streets in Lhasa. Currently, the street lights light up at about 9 pm.
