Giant Thangka Scrolls of Buddha Unveiled at Tashilhunpo Monastery in Xizang

The unveiling of the Thangka depicting Buddha is a significant ceremony during Tibetan festivals. At Tashilhunpo Monastery in Xigaze City, Xizang, this annual event began on the 14th day of the fifth month of the Tibetan calendar and continued for three days. During this period, large Thangka scrolls featuring Amitabha Buddha, Sakyamuni Buddha, and Maitreya Buddha were unveiled on consecutive days.

Tashilhunpo Monastery serves as the residence for successive Panchen Erdenis and is one of the six major monasteries of the Gelug Sect of Tibetan Buddhism in China.
