Gansu’s Zhugqu County to hold a folk couplet culture festival on June 29

ZHUGQU, June 21 (Kangba TV) -- The Fourth Zhugqu Folk Couplet Culture Festival and Mt. Cuifeng Summit Forum for Traditional Chinese Culture will be held from June 29 to July 2. 

On the occasion, large-scale folk cultural performances and the launching ceremony for a series of books on Zhouqu County’s history, culture and folklore will be staged.  

In addition, an expert discussion on applying “Circumambulation around Mt. Dongshan with Lanterns” for national intangible cultural heritage will be carried out. So will be 2017 Zhugqu International Food Festival. 

With a long history, Zhugqu, located in southern Gansu Province beside the Bailong River, is hailed as China’s hometown of couplets.   

This place is rich in human landscapes, such as Tibetan and Han music, songs and dances, varied religious beliefs, different ethnic folk customs and so on. 

There are many well-known folk cultural heritages like Songpeng couplet lantern show, and local featured festivals in Zhugqu. 

Zhouqu County has attracted 1,261,500 tourists in the past five years, creating a tourism revenue of 536 million yuan since 2013, 83.226 million yuan of which was from the culture sector.
