A new chapter has begun in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region since the feudal serfdom under theocracy was ended there on March 28, 1959. Sixty years ago, more than 1 million people, or 90 percent of the region's population at that time, were emancipated from the feudal serfdom.

Intangible cultural heritage workshops open in Tibet

Tibetans in poverty-stricken areas will have a chance to make their way out through traditional craftsmanship, since 10 workshops were set up Saturday in the county of Nyemo in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, local authorities said.
