According to the Sichuan Wujiao Nature Reserve in Jiuzhaigou County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, southwest China's Sichuan Province, on July 3, staff members found footage of a wild panda inside the infrared camera placed in the Hongliupo area of the nature reserve.

Hu Xueyu, director of the administrative office of the Jiuzhaigou County Wujiao Nature Reserve, said that this is the second time wild pandas had been captured on infrared camera in the nature reserve since the“8.8” Jiuzhaigou earthquake in 2017.

Hongliupo is located on the ridge of the junction of the Shiguanzi Ravine and the Caijia Ravine in the Wujiao Nature Reserve in Sichuan Province. At an altitude of 3,000 meters, the vegetation in this area is coniferous and broad-leaved forest. The timing of the footage of the wild giant panda's activity is shown to be around 19:37 on June 2, 2018, and the video lasts about 40 seconds. On the video, one can clearly see a chubby, adult wild giant panda playing on the ground for a while, then standing up and leaving.

In addition to giant pandas, the staff also discovered images and footage of wild blood pheasants, serow, sand badgers, and hedgehogs while looking through infrared camera materials.

The Sichuan Wujiao Nature Reserve is located across Wujiao, Majia, and Caodi townships in Jiuzhaigou County. It was established in 1993 and is a provincial-level nature reserve, and it has been absorbed into the Giant Panda National Park range. In order to better understand the conditions of the animals within the nature reserve, since 2012, more than 20 infrared cameras have been installed inside.

Hu Xueyu revealed that they will install 50 more infrared cameras this year in order to observe and record wildlife activities in the protected area.
