Since the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, known as the "Sky Road", was open to traffic on July 1, 2006, what was set up at the same time was the railway guardian team, most of whom are rural farmers and herdsmen from local areas along the railway in southwest China's Tibet. Each day, guardians walk about 15 to 20 kilometers for a patrol along the railway line that sits 4,000 meters above sea level during their morning and evening shifts which last for 12 hours each. Since the guardian team was established in 2006, not a security accident has ever happened due to their hard work.[Photo/ China News Service]
