Gansu Zhugqu’s Basai Water Worship Festival falls on the fifth day of the fifth month on Chinese lunar calendar every year.

On that day, local people would climb up to Mount Arang, over 3,900m above sea level. People would dance and sing on the mountain to pray for blessings and health.

The festival is unique to Gansu’s Zhugqu, which is known for its warm and humid climate in the mountain area.
