First domestic high-altitude emergency rescue center set up in Lhasa

Emergency Rescue Center of Tibet Red Cross Society, the first one for high-altitude emergencies held its opening ceremony in Lhasa’s Cijuelin Airport, which marks a foundamental emergency rescue mechanism featuring fast response, powerful support, timely transport and aerobic supply has been built in high-altitude areas. 

Ma Jun, director of the center said, the establishment of the center was an important measure to mobilize and integrate social resources to build a highland rescue system. 

This center can play a role in publicizing medical rescue knowledge in Tibet and  promoting the standard and professional rescue work on the plateau. 

This center provides services including integrated rescue service, cross-regional medical assistance, cross-regional transport service, air charter, rail transport, emergency oxygen therapy and supply for altitude stress, etc.  

With eight first-aid branch stations, the center also has cooperation with major hospitals in Tibet Autonomous Region.
